This July, Share Discovery Village are running a fun, 6-week, Social Sailing event aimed to help anyone out there who wants to learn how to sail in a fun, social environment.
About the Social Sailing Course
The course is intended to be a friendly, social event where locals can come and learn a new skill with others, while not stressing about gaining a qualification or passing a test.
The first session will be a social gathering with a tea/juice and a few light snacks for everyone to familiarise themselves with each other and get to know the instructors.
During this session you will also get an introduction to the basics such as identifying items of gear necessary and familiarising yourself with them.
Throughout the course you will learn the following:
- Rigging / Launching
- Familiarisation of the sailing boat
- Basic Boat Controls
- Tacking / Going About
- The 5 Essentials: Sail Setting, Balance, Boat Trim, Centreboard and Course Made Good.
- Downwind
- Gybing
- Capsize Recovery Drill
When is Social Sailing?
Time: 6.30pm (2.5 hour sessions roughly)
Date: Thursday 18th July – Thursday 22nd August (Weekly, every Thursday)
Price: £15pp (Pay all 6 weeks for £75)
