Volunteering at Share Discovery Village
At Share Discovery Village, volunteers have been at the heart of our story for more than 40 years. Their time, skills, enthusiasm, and dedication have helped us create life-changing experiences for thousands of children, young people, adults, families, and community groups from across Northern Ireland, Ireland, and beyond.
Whether you can give a few hours, a few days, or make a longer-term commitment, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference at Share.
Why Volunteer at Share?
Volunteering at Share is an opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, gain valuable experience, and become part of a vibrant and welcoming community. Volunteers play an important role in helping us maintain our facilities, support events, deliver activities, and develop our services for future generations.
Over the years, we have welcomed volunteers from across Northern Ireland, Ireland, Europe, and around the world. Many have come to Share to gain experience, contribute to a worthwhile cause, and enjoy life on the shores of Upper Lough Erne.
For some volunteers, their journey with Share has even led to employment opportunities, with several former volunteers going on to become valued members of our staff team.
Volunteer Opportunities
Board of Trustees
Our Board of Trustees provides strategic leadership and governance for the organisation. Trustees help shape the future of Share, ensuring we remain financially sustainable and continue delivering our charitable mission. We are always interested in hearing from people with skills and experience in areas such as finance, marketing, education, business, legal services, fundraising, and community development.
Activity and Programme Support
Volunteers can assist with a range of activities and programmes throughout the year. This may include helping at community events, supporting group programmes, assisting with family fun days, and helping participants enjoy everything Share has to offer.
Maintenance and Site Improvement
From painting and gardening to practical maintenance projects, volunteers help keep Share looking its best. These projects make a huge difference to the experience of our visitors and help us maintain our facilities for future generations.
Environmental and Conservation Projects
Located in the heart of the Fermanagh Lakelands, Share is passionate about protecting the natural environment. Volunteers can support environmental projects, biodiversity initiatives, litter picks, and conservation activities around the site.
Fundraising and Events
Our events and fundraising activities rely on the support of volunteers. Whether helping with registration, stewarding, setting up venues, or supporting participants, volunteers play a key role in making these events successful.
Corporate Volunteering
Many businesses support Share through corporate volunteering days. These visits provide an excellent opportunity for employees to give back to their community while helping us complete projects that improve our facilities and services. Corporate volunteer groups have made a significant impact over the years through their time, skills, and enthusiasm.
Administration and Specialist Skills
We also welcome volunteers who can share professional expertise in areas such as marketing, social media, photography, fundraising, grant and funding applications, business development, IT, administration, and project management.
These specialist skills can make a significant impact on the work of Share. Whether it’s helping to develop marketing campaigns, supporting funding applications, creating content, improving systems, or providing professional advice, volunteers with specialist knowledge help us grow, improve, and continue delivering meaningful experiences for our visitors.
Accommodation for Volunteers
For volunteers travelling from further afield, Share may be able to provide accommodation on site, depending on the nature and duration of the volunteering opportunity. Living and volunteering at Share offers a unique chance to experience life at one of Northern Ireland’s leading residential activity centres while becoming part of our community.
